Home page for the
Stanford Parallel Applications for Shared Memory (SPLASH)

This site will provide a list of the people
currently involved with applications research at Stanford,
information about the SPLASH suite of multiprocessor applications,
access to the latest SPLASH distribution, and related papers.
The SPLASH-2 suite, consisting of several new applications as well
as enhanced versions of some of the original SPLASH applications, is
available here.
The SPLASH-2 suite is organized into two sections: kernels and
applications. A partial list of the codes in this release follows.
Kernels:
Complex 1D FFT
Blocked LU Decomposition
Blocked Sparse
Cholesky Factorization
Integer Radix Sort
Applications:
Barnes-Hut
Adaptive Fast Multipole
Ocean Simulation
Hierarchical Radiosity
Ray Tracer
Volume
Renderer
Water Simulation with Spatial Data Structure
Water
Simulation without Spatial Data Structure
Watch this site for new developments and new additions to the SPLASH-2
suite.
The original SPLASH suite has been moved and is now also available via http.
The applications provided in the SPLASH-2 suite were developed by a
number of people. The report lists authors primarily responsible for
the development of each application code. The codes were made ready for
distribution and the README files were prepared by Steven Cameron Woo
and Jaswinder Pal Singh.
SPLASH-2 Characterization Database
Some base application characterization information is available in
the paper The SPLASH-2 Programs: Characterization and Methodological
Considerations (see below). However, we have much more information
about the characteristics of the programs than we could put in this paper.
In order to provide access to this information so that researchers do not
need to perform costly simulations to get the same information that we
already have, we have created an on-line database and an interactive
viewing tool that allows our growing database of information to be viewed
in a variety of ways.
